Jamie Dornan and Michael Fassbender enjoy the sun during Northern Ireland seaside visit

By Jonathan Bell

There was not a blot of grey in the sky when Northern Ireland actor and Hollywood star Jamie Dornan dropped into Ballycastle's O'Connor's bar over the weekend.

The 50 Shades of Grey actor enjoyed a few drinks in the bar causing quite the stir on Friday night.

"He was wearing a hat and there was a bit of talk as to if it was him or not," bar manager Conall McToal told the Belfast Telegraph.

"Not that I would have recognised him - but a few of the girls thought it was him and when they asked he was more than happy for a picture.

"Word spread round the town very quickly and we had people coming in all night to try and see him - although most of them missed him.

"But he was here for a good few hours and seemed to be enjoying himself in the beer garden in the sun - not sure why he was here mind, but sure why not O'Connors for a good pint?"

Dornan was not the only Hollywood star to drop into the town.

On Saturday Michael Fassbender dropped into the Marine Hotel on the Co Antrim town's seafront.

The star of X Men enjoyed a bowl of the restaurant's famous seafood chowder.

He also played a game of bowls at the nearby bowling club. The hotel's food and beverage assistant Tiarnan Jennings helped with carrying drinks to the bowling club and Michael showed him how to play the game.

He also enjoyed a walk along the seafront to admire the views of Fairhead and Rathlin Island. He said he loved the town.

Fassbender's mother Adele is from Larne while his father Josef is from Germany
