Co Down actor Jamie Dornan has been voted the local celebrity that people in Northern Ireland would most like to kiss under the mistletoe this Christmas, according to a new survey.

Forget about 'mommy kissing Santa Claus', Fifty Shades of Grey star Jamie is the star with whom the public here would most like to share a cheeky festive snog after receiving a huge 40% of the vote

He was well ahead of fellow actor James Nesbitt, who finished a not-so-close second with 8%, according to Boost energy drink's poll.

Local radio presenter Rebecca McKinney also received 8% of the public vote to finish narrowly ahead of TV personality Christine Lampard (nee Bleakley) as our most kissable female celeb.

Northern Ireland folk certainly have diverse tastes, with Christmas panto 'dame' May McFettridge and former Blue Peter presenter Zoe Salmon each polling 6% of the vote, ahead of Girls Aloud's Nadine Coyle and current Miss Northern Ireland Anna Henry, who each amassed 5% of the vote, with actor Charlie Lawson and broadcaster Julian Simmons on 1.67%.

Some others who received a handful of votes included broadcaster Pamela Ballantine, DUP leader Arlene Foster, TV weather presenters Cecilia Daly and Barra Best and DUP MP Emma Little Pengelly.

The survey also asked what people here really wanted for Christmas, with some interesting results.

If you're still not sure what to buy your loved one, the survey reveals that the perfect Christmas gift is a holiday or short break, with 38% of votes.

And if you don't have time to shop around, then 15% of survey participants would be happiest just to receive cash.

Cooking and cleaning equipment is what the people of Northern Ireland would least like to receive, so be sure to avoid any vacuum cleaners, pots or pans.

This unpopular option topped the poll with 20% of the vote, closely followed by 'something to help you at work', which clocked in with 17% of the vote. Deodorant sets, socks and handkerchiefs also ranked highly on the least desirable list.

The survey also revealed the province's number one Christmas song and movie.

Topping the music charts, a whopping 40% of people in Northern Ireland voted Fairytale of New York by The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl as their favourite Christmas song, with Mariah Carey's All I Want for Christmas coming in second with 13% and Wham's Last Christmas (10%) in third place.

Christmas just isn't the same without sitting down to watch a festive movie, and Home Alone starring Macaulay Culkin was voted our all-time favourite with 26% of the vote, ahead of Will Ferrell's hilarious Elf which came a close second with 23%.
