Jay-Z has insisted he will be changing nappies when his first child with wife Beyonce is born and has even imagined the baby seat in his Maybach car.

Despite his rap star status, Jay-Z has vowed to be the hands-on father he missed out on and will provide all the love and support his baby girl needs.

He told American GQ: "My dad was such a good dad that when he left, he left a huge scar. He was my superhero. To have that connection and then have it ripped away was, like, the worst."

The 42 year-old music mogul was abandoned by his father at the age of 11. They were reunited in 2003, but he admits it was a struggle to forgive his father for what he had done.

He said: "[I talked about] what it did to me, what it meant, asked him why. There was no real answer. There was nothing he could say, because there's no excuse for that. There really isn't."

Beyonce revealed her growing baby bump while performing at the MTV Music Awards in September, to the delight of her husband and fans.

The superstar couple married in 2007 and Jay-Z is adamant that it is love and not money that they will give as parents.

He told GQ: "Providing - that's not love. Being there - that's more important.

"We see that with all these rich socialites. They're crying out for the love that maybe they didn't get at home, and they got everything. All the material things that they need and want. We know that's not the key."
