Jeff Brazier gets emotional recalling Jade Goody's death

Jade Goody would have turned 36 on Monday (05Jun17).

Jeff Brazier broke down in tears while recalling how "unfair" Jade Goody's death was during an interview on Loose Women on Tuesday (06Jun17).

The TV presenter became a single parent to his two sons Bobby, 14, and Freddie, 12, when the reality star, his former partner, lost her short battle with cervical cancer at the age of 27 in 2009.

In the years since, Jeff has trained as a life coach, counselling other bereaved families, and released self-help book The Grief Survival Guide: How to Navigate Loss and All that Comes with It last week (ends04Jun17).

Jeff appeared on Loose Women to promote the tome on Tuesday, the day after what would have been Jade's 36th birthday, and Jeff couldn't help but become emotional when talking about the loss he and his boys suffered after seeing a montage of pictures of Jade.

"It's so desperately unfair - I'm choked, I'm very choked. It was her birthday last night..." he said. "I have been talking about this all time time for the book but today it's different... I've never cried with the children. This is first time I've got upset talking about it. I am coping..."

The 38-year-old took the boys to dinner the night before to celebrate their mum alongside some of Jade's friends.

"We had a couple of her friends with us. They take the children back to that time when their mum was still there," he recalled. "It's very current. It never leaves the table... It's always on our minds."

He also spoke about coping with his own grief, admitting he didn't know how to because he was so focused on putting the kids first.

"It was unclear to me what my grief should be," he confessed. "It's this whole thing about permission in grief. She wasn't my partner at the time although she brought those children into the world with me so it was very important."
