Jeremy McConnell blames insecurities for frequent rows with Stephanie Davis

Jeremy McConnell's interview was conducted before the incident on Sunday night (02Jul17) that saw his on-off girlfriend Stephanie Davis arrested.

Jeremy McConnell has blamed his insecurities for the problems in his relationship with Stephanie Davis.

The model gave an interview to Closer magazine just days before Stephanie was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH) following an argument with Jeremy at a London pub which left him with two black eyes.

The incident isn't the first time the on-off couple have reportedly come to blows, with Jeremy telling the publication that his lack of confidence in himself and the relationship is the reason for their frequent arguments.

"We love each other but we are both very insecure people and have a lot of arguments," he explained. "I think it stems from me; I always believe people will leave me so I feel like Steph will go off with someone else. I think I push people away when they get too close."

After Jeremy was determined to be Stephanie's son Caben-Albi's father, he tried to turn his life around by admitting himself into rehab. While his stint had initially appeared to be successful, Jeremy was pictured weeks later after apparently falling off the wagon.

And he's unsure whether he and Stephanie have the strength to put their differences behind them to concentrate on a new chapter in their romance.

"Things were getting too explosive between us, the whole thing was a mess. I want a normal life and a great relationship but things between us felt so out of control… the ups and downs in our relationship are ridiculous," he admitted. "We both love Caben deeply but we also know we both need to sort out these childish spats."

Jeremy's interview came as it was reported Stephanie is now on bail following her arrest on Sunday night (02Jul17). According to the Mirror Online, the former Hollyoaks star has been released and bailed to a date in July, when she will appear in court on the charges. A police source added to the outlet that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
