Jerry Lewis has been released from hospital and is now resting at his hotel, his publicist has confirmed.
The 86-year-old comedian was was admitted to a New York hospital earlier this week due to low blood sugar after forgetting to eat or drink, after spending two nights under medical supervision.
Publicist Candi Cazau said Lewis was taken to the hospital as a precaution just before he was scheduled to receive an award from the Friars Club. He had also been due to present Tom Cruise with the Friars Club Entertainment Icon Award at the ceremony at the Waldorf-Astoria in Manhattan.
Candi said "all is well" with Lewis and he's preparing to return to work.
She said the comic is beginning three weeks of directing rehearsals for a new musical based on his 1963 film The Nutty Professor.
