Jerry Seinfeld slams the Kardashians
The actor insists only top talent should make it onto TV.
Veteran comedian Jerry Seinfeld refuses to let his children watch Keeping Up with the Kardashians because he is "offended" by reality TV.
The Seinfeld icon always tries to be a relaxed dad around his children, but he couldn't keep his cool when he caught his daughter watching the Kim Kardashian-fronted series nearby.
"The one time I really, really got upset was when my daughter was watching the Kardashians on her phone in her bed and I could not take that scene," he tells MrPorter.com.
Seinfeld has spent almost four decades on TV, but it took him a lot of hard work to get to where he is in his career and because of his early struggles, it's difficult for him to have any respect for reality shows and their stars.
"Television was the Olympics of being a comedian," he continues. "It was only for the very best. You had to have everything. You had to go through all the different hierarchies of your career to get to television. I'm offended by reality television on many levels and that show of course is the premier example of reality television. These people are not doing anything interesting. I lost my temper with that one."
Seinfeld is not the only celebrity to slam the reality TV family - stars including Daniel Craig and Jon Hamm have also expressed their disdain towards Kim, Kourtney, and Khloe Kardashian and their relatives.
"Look at the Kardashians, they're worth millions," Craig told GQ magazine in 2011. "I don't think they were that badly off to begin with, but now look at them. You see that and you think, 'What, you mean all I have to do is behave like a f**king idiot on television and then you'll pay me millions?' I'm not judging it - well, I am obviously."
And in 2012, Hamm told Elle UK, "Whether it's Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian or whoever, stupidity is certainly celebrated. Being a f**king idiot is a valuable commodity in this culture because you're rewarded significantly."
