Jordan: Barrymore for Strictly host
Former Strictly Come Dancing star James Jordan has revealed he thinks Michael Barrymore should have replaced Sir Bruce Forsyth as the host of the show.
The professional dancer is currently competing in Channel 5 reality show Celebrity Big Brother, where he was quizzed by fellow housemate Dee Kelly, of Benefit Street fame, about who he thinks the BBC should have hired to present the dance contest when Brucie retired.
James said "Bring back Michael Barrymore. Think outside the box a little bit. I think they played too safe. I definitely think it had to be a man. Instead of going two women."
He said he didn't think Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly worked as a presenting duo.
He added: "At the end of the day ballroom and Latin dancing is about a man and a woman dancing with each other. I love Claudia and Tess but I think they don't really compliment each other."
He also told Dee he agreed with the BBC's decision not to allow same sex couples to compete. There had been rumours gay DJ Scott Mills would be paired with a male professional partner, but he has been put with female dancer Joanne Clifton.
James said: "I don't believe in that. Because you're gay doesn't mean you can't dance with a woman.
"The idea is about how the dress moves, that is ballroom. There are same sex competitions, and that's fine if you want to do that. But don't try and mix it with what we do, because it's different."
