Kensit: I regretted Liam split
Patsy Kensit has opened up about her marriage to Liam Gallagher, admitting she regretted dumping him.
The former Emmerdale actress and the Oasis star tied the knot in 1997, when Patsy was 29 and Liam was 25, but were divorced three years later following plenty of highly publicised ups and downs.
But Patsy, 45, has now revealed she has lots of great memories of their time together, reported the Daily Mirror.
"We just clicked on every level," she said. "He was protective and loving. When we were together there were fireworks, and a chemistry that lasted to the end."
But the star confessed she soon heard rumours about Liam's womanising as Oasis took off and developed an apologetic "Pantomime Patsy" act to cover up for his behaviour.
"I'd heard all the rumours about his womanising and I knew exactly what was going on behind my back," she said. "Liam was very young and I could also see the temptations surrounding him. I wasn't naive about how intoxicating it can be - and it was all new to Liam."
Patsy's fears about her relationship led to her turning down the chance to play Emily, Ross's girlfriend, in Friends. She revealed: "Friends was an offer you didn't pass up. But I couldn't commit to it. I knew I needed to be at home if my relationship with Liam was going to survive. It was already a struggle keeping things together with his touring schedule. I was madly in love and I chose my marriage over the job."
But their marriage eventually came to an end anyway. Patsy, who has a son with the singer, admitted: " I regretted walking out almost immediately. I think he had moved on while I still had feelings for him, and my heart was broken into a million pieces."
However, she said she still has fond memories of their time together.
"It wasn't without its low points, but I remember it vividly, as if it's in Technicolor. It makes me laugh, it makes me cry, but it's almost as if it happened to someone else," she said.
