Lady Mary: I'll be quite contrary
Michelle Dockery has revealed that Downton Abbey viewers can expect a wedding, a funeral and a sex scene in the coming episodes of the hit period drama.
In an interview about the quintessential television programme, which stars Hugh Bonneville and Dame Maggie Smith, the 29-year-old actress says devotees to the show will be "really surprised" by the plots.
The ITV show - which follows the Crawley family as Britain heads into the First World War - became a runaway success during its first series.
On the latest series, Michelle, who plays Lady Mary, told The Telegraph: "There's a wedding, a funeral and a sex scene, I'm in two, no wait, I'm in one of those."
"The thing is, I can see people will think that I am involved in a particular one of those three, but I'm not. People will be really surprised."
Michelle - who plays the daughter of the distinguished Earl of Grantham, played by Bonneville - added that the scandal that haunted her character in the first series would rear its head again.
Unmarried Lady Mary smuggled a male visitor into her bed - where he inconveniently died.
She said: "The incident with the Turkish diplomat comes back to haunt Mary in the second series. I can't tell you why, but it could literally bring down the whole Crawley family - it's huge."
