A teenager from Larne has described taking part in the kids version of The Voice as "possibly one of the best experiences of my life so far".

Nathan Johnston (14) is set to rock the stage at The Voice Kids UK tonight performing a cover of rock legend Bob Seger's Old Time Rock And Roll for Pixie Lott, McFly's Danny Jones and will.i.am, in a bid to secure a coveted spot on one of their teams.

He revealed that the prospect of taking to the famous stage had initially been daunting.

"Nerves took over me backstage, but as soon as the music came on, I let them all go. It was great," he said.

The winner of this year's competition will receive £30,000 and a family trip to Disney World.

Nathan said that if he wins he will invest it in his future.

"I would invest the prize money into my musical education," he said. "I want to study music in uni, at one of the big schools in London."

The Voice Kids UK - airing for the first time this year - is a talent competition that is open to talented young soloists who are aged between seven and 14 years.

Tonight's episode will air at 7.30pm on ITV.
