Lisa Faulkner: I'm happy again

Lisa Faulkner has said she's taking it slowly in her relationship with MasterChef judge John Torode.

The former Holby City actress and John, who worked together when she won Celebrity Masterchef 2010, got together late last year.

Lisa, 41, who has a seven-year-old adopted daughter, Billie, said: "John's so calm, chilled and lovely. Our relationship's as quiet and private as it can be when you both work in television!

"I'm really happy, but we're not living together because we're taking things slowly. I believe life goes in ups and downs, and at the moment it's such a nice time," she added.

Lisa, who is releasing new cookery book, The Way I Cook..., was 16 when she lost her mother to cancer and, in more recent years, she endured the heartache of realising she couldn't have children naturally, failed IVF and then the breakdown of her marriage to former EastEnders actor Chris Coghill last April.

"Last year started as one of the worst of my life; it was very hard. I had a mental block about turning 40," the actress admitted.

"I'm a very emotional person. If I'm upset about something and things don't go right, I have to go down and then come back up, take stock, and wait for the sun to come out again. I've learnt that it always does."

She said of John, 48, whose own marriage ended in 2011: "We've been friends for years, then last year, both single, one day he just asked me out for a date. I just said, 'Yeah, all right', and it was one of those moments when we both started smiling."
