Lola Saunders bows out of X Factor

She swapped sole for soul - but fishmonger Lola Saunders' X Factor dream is over after she became the latest act eliminated from the show.

The 20-year-old from Newcastle left the competition after her sing-off against boyband Stereo Kicks went to deadlock.

Louis Walsh and Mel B opted to send home Lola, while Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Simon Cowell chose to kick off the group.

It meant the decision was thrown back to the public and Lola was the one to leave after polling the fewest votes.

She said: "I tried the best I could at the end of the day. This experience has been life changing."

Her mentor Cheryl said: "She's fantastic."

After the sing-off Louis, who mentors Stereo Kicks, said: "It was an amazing sing off. I love Lola and Stereo Kicks you sang your heart out."

Choosing to save the band, Mel said: "I'm really annoyed at Stereo Kicks - that was your best performance. Why haven't you brought it every time?"

However Simon voted to send home Stereo Kicks, who were put together by show executives after auditioning as solo acts.

He said: "It's very easy - the person who sang the best was Lola."

Earlier in the show there were performances by soul star John Legend and Cheryl.
