Lycett: Widdecombe gave me jitters!
Funnyman Joe Lycett has revealed he was terrified when Strictly Come Dancing's Ann Widdecombe appeared on his new show.
The comedian makes his TV debut in BBC One game show Epic Win this weekend alongside small screen regular Alexander Armstrong.
Meeting former politician Ann, who joins panellist Micky Flanagan on one episode, was nervewracking, Joe admitted.
"She's frightening! You look into her eyes and feel like everything you've ever done is wrong," he said.
"But she is lovely and mumsy. And she's a good sport. She was as up for a laugh as she was on Strictly Come Dancing."
Joe was recruited to Epic Win as an on-screen announcer but his on-set larks were so popular, producers decided to give him a bigger role.
"I'm an assistant, although not a glamorous one. It's hard to describe exactly what I do but it's very George Dawes (Matt Lucas's former Shooting Stars character) in that I do a silly, absurd turn every so often," he said.
Joe has also been taking part in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, performing in a 'package' show with three other comics.
"I think it's important to go out and gig all over the country, it makes you a better comic," he added.
:: Epic Win begins on BBC One tonight (August 20).
