Manic Street Preachers star pulls out of BBC Biggest Weekend in Belfast

Manic Street Preachers bassist Nicky Wire has pulled out of Friday's Belfast Biggest Weekend performance due to a "serious family illness".

The Manics will still take to the stage at the Titanic Slipway's with a stand-in bassist joining the band for the performance.

The band are set to headline the event on Friday alongside Orbital and American star Beck.

BBC Music and BBC Radio 6 Music have joined forces to bring spectacular live performances to four UK different cities, including Belfast's outdoor event.

The event is intended as a replacement for Glastonbury, which is taking a break in 2018.

It's being billed as "the BBC’s biggest ever celebration of music across TV, radio, online and mobile".

Full coverage of the event is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
