Martin: I hit jackpot with Paltrow
Chris Martin has said meeting Gwyneth Paltrow was "like winning the lottery".
The Coldplay frontman revealed his pairing with the Shakespeare In Love star - who he married in 2003 after a year's dating - was also his first serious relationship.
When CBS Sunday Morning interviewer Anthony Mason said the singer had made "quite a leap" when he met Gwyneth, Chris replied: "It's a big leap? What, from being a loser, to going out with an Oscar winner?"
He added: "It's a giant leap. Let's face it, it's like winning the lottery."
Chris, who is father to daughter Apple, seven, and son Moses, five, said fatherhood had also changed his professional life.
"It's made it more focused," he admitted.
"And you have a purpose. I like what it does. Just the idea of having to work hard so your kids are OK."
