Music student Michelle McCloskey is celebrating a distinction in her Grade 6 Bodhrán exam with the London College of Music.

Michelle has performed alongside percussion expert Mark Wilson at the Titanic Drums and Drums of the World events in Belfast and Armagh. She also had the honour of accompanying Zoe Conway and John McIntyre at a performance in Dundalk.

She become the 100th student to achieve a bodhrán grade with the Traditional Arts Partnership, based in Mullaghbawn.

Her teacher Fergal O’Brien described her as a "musician who has the ability to get into the spirit of a tune and follow its shape and mood. She is a total inspiration to other students, with a unique style of her own".

Michelle said: "When Fergal phoned me to tell me I got a distinction in my Grade 6 exam I was absolutely thrilled. I am so grateful to everyone who helped me throughout the year.  I am really looking forward to getting back to my classes in September to work on my grade 8.”
