Montana Brown and Alex Beattie fall at final Love Island hurdle

Montana Brown and Alex Beattie have high hopes for their relationship outside of the Love Island villa.

Montana Brown and Alex Beattie narrowly missed out on a place in the Love Island final as they were dumped from the villa on Sunday night's (23Jul17) show.

The pair had been put at risk of a dumping by their fellow islanders, who all had to vote for one couple to potentially send home. Montana and Alex, Camilla Thurlow and Jamie Jewitt and Gabby Allen and Marcel Somerville were all in the firing line. However, it was Alex and Montana who were at the receiving end of the public's ire, with their previous nasty comments about Gabby and Marcel leading to a change in opinion towards the pair, the former favourites to win.

After host Caroline Flack delivered the news, Montana broke down in tears as she bid farewell to her fellow islanders, telling them: "I feel so lucky having met you all... we'll be rooting for every single one of you."

Talking to the cameras after being voted off, Alex and Montana insisted they still have high hopes for the future of their relationship.

"We are comfortable in our relationship, we’re not worried about the distance, we’ll make it work. Georgia (Harrison, previous evictee) and I have planned some girly road trips up to the north to see Sam (Gowland) and Alex," Montana smiled.

Alex concurred, "I’m excited and ready to experience outside life and see how far we can go together."

Montana also touched on an issue that's been hitting headlines - namely whether Gabby's feelings towards Marcel are genuine. Despite the blonde fitness instructor pledging her love to her Blazin' Squad beau, some viewers have doubted whether or not she's just "playing the game" in a bid to win the £50,000 cash prize.

However, Montana insisted: "It’s been so much more than I expected. Everyone’s feelings are genuine, I’ve made life long friends, I’ve had the best time."

Love Island viewers were also treated to scenes of the couples meeting each other's parents earlier on Sunday's show, with Montana being scolded by her mum for having sex on television, while Chris Harrison's mother told him of his girlfriend Olivia Attwood: "Olivia is very sweet."
