New additions to jungle contingent
New I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! contestants Vincent Simone and Annabel Giles pulled an all-nighter for their camp mates after spending their first few hours in the jungle on the factory graveyard shift.
Simone, who turned down a slot on Strictly Come Dancing's Christmas special in favour of the jungle, described himself as "the sex symbol of the jungle" - but it was the less glamorous role of an overnight stint in the Outback Factory which awaited the dancefloor star, and former model and television presenter Giles.
The duo had to thread corks on 600 cloth hats during their five-hour overnight shift.
But their co-workers proved quite a distraction, after mother-of-two Giles and Simone had to battle through the task with legions of scurrying - and, according to the latter, amorous - mice and cockroaches for company.
They ended up completing 307 hats - enough for six meals for the dozen campers.
The duo spent the remainder of the night away from the rest of the group, to whom they had not yet been introduced.
And there was further tension at the end of the show - unintentionally - when a sound glitch meant viewers were left in the dark about who was chosen to carry out the next Bush Tucker Trial.
Earlier, Miss Universe contestant Amy Willerton became the first woman this series to undertake the feat, scoring seven stars in a speed task resulting in decent provisions for the happy campers.
The trials had previously been largely the preserve of TV presenter Matthew Wright and reality personality Joey Essex.
But the Bristol model defied the attention of 40,000 insects suspended in a perspex box with her above the jungle floor to triumph.
Viewers also saw Wright provide this year's white bikini moment in the jungle.
The talkshow host recreated the scene from the 2006 series when Myleene Klass got viewers' pulses racing by showering in her swimsuit.
Wright told Essex: "The papers always want to know who's going to do the Myleene white bikini moment and maybe wondering if it's going to be Amy or Lucy, but I can let you into a little secret, Joey, that this year's white bikini moment is coming from a fella."
He then stripped off to reveal he was wearing a white Myleene-style bikini, saying: "I soaped up and did my very best to recreate those magic Myleene moments. At one point the bloody things (bikini bottoms) came undone".
He added: "I think it's good sometimes to turn these things on their head. It shouldn't just be every year people waiting to see the girl with the big knockers, prancing around, because ultimately that is sexist and so I'm standing up to strike a blow to even the pitch.
"I hope I've managed to do that this afternoon."
An ITV spokesman apologised for the interruption in the sound.
Viewers were unable to hear presenters Ant and Dec inform the long-serving campers they would be spared the day's Bush Tucker Trial - but would have to select one of the two new incumbent to take on the task and win food.
The spokesman said: "We experienced a technical fault which is currently under investigation.
"We apologised on air to viewers."
