One Show star in rickshaw challenge

The One Show's Matt Baker is to attempt to cycle a rickshaw from Edinburgh to London in eight days to raise money for BBC Children in Need.

The TV presenter will embark on his arduous 484-mile journey on the morning of November 11 from Edinburgh Castle Esplanade and he will attempt to finish live in London on the BBC One programme's Children in Need special a week later.

The programme will go live to Hawick on November 11 for the first stop in his Rickshaw Challenge, and greet him on air every weeknight as he crosses the finishing line at each location.

He will be making stops at Hexham, Barnard Castle, York, Lincoln, Peterborough and Cambridge on the way to the capital.

Throughout the challenge, Matt will be picking up passengers along the way, including a variety of surprise guests.

He will brave the harsh winter elements and battle steep hills, cycling the rickshaw for up to 10 hours each day and burning up to 9,000 calories daily.

Matt said: "I'm hoping to arrive in time for The One Show's live Children in Need special, but the hilly roads, winter weather and the tough schedule will not make it easy.

"I'm going to need your help and support so please get behind me, turn up and cheer me on."
