Pamela Anderson reckons turning vegan has helped her to manage Hepatitis C.

"I have Hepatitis C and I feel great, which I think has a lot to do with my diet," the Baywatch star explained at Peta's 30th anniversary celebrations in Hollywood.

In 2002 the actress revealed she'd contracted the disease, which affects the liver.

Speaking on the red carpet, Pamela stressed the health benefits she'd experienced from giving up meat and animal products.

"I feel better, I always feel healthy, but I feel better," she insisted.

As a keen animal rights activist, the 43-year-old has teamed up to front numerous campaigns with PETA over the years, including the classic 'I'd rather go naked than wear fur' posters.

"It was one of the first campaigns I did for them. I'd called them from Baywatch and said 'please give me something to do I'm so sick of talking about my boyfriends and my boobs!'" she laughed.

But she added that she isn't trying to push her animal rights views on to her kids Brandon and Dylan.

"They're making their own decisions," she said.

"It's good actually when you see them talking about things with their friends and actually picking up on it."
