Pike: Go for Thunderbirds series
Rosamund Pike has said she feels privileged to be voicing Lady Penelope in a new version of Thunderbirds because she was such a fan as a child.
The World's End star is taking on the role for upcoming TV series Thunderbirds Are Go!, a reboot of the original, due to air from 2015.
She said it was another great role to tick off her list: "It's such a treat. I watched Thunderbirds as a child and to get to play someone as iconic as Lady Penelope, I've played a Bond girl and now I'm getting to play Lady Penelope. I feel really very lucky."
Rosamund added of her co-stars: "There are some of the boys who are playing the Tracy brothers who grew up and cannot believe that they're playing Scott or Alan Tracy now. You couldn't have told their 13-year-old selves that that was going to be the case."
She is also about to star as the lead character in the film adaptation of Gone Girl, a dark thriller about a missing woman, and said the Thunderbirds role would offer her young son the chance to see some of her work.
She explained: "Yes, of course I want to do something that my son can enjoy, because he's certainly not going to be able to watch Gone Girl."
Rosamund can next be seen in comedy Hector and the Search for Happiness opposite Simon Pegg, due to be released in cinemas on August 15.
