Alex Best attended a new play in east Belfast last night that was inspired by a letter sent to her late ex-husband, Manchester United legend George Best.

The Strand Arts Centre played host to a sneak peek of Living The Dream ahead of its opening at Andrew Lloyd Webber's Other Palace Theatre in London next year.

Based on a true story, it tells the story of Ana Costea, a former political prisoner in Romania. After the overthrow of Nicolae Ceausescu, she wrote a letter to Best explaining that he and John Lennon had given so many prisoners hope.

But on her death bed, issues from Ana's past are preventing her from passing peacefully.

She also wrote that her dream would be to one day have the opportunity to meet George, and the spirits of Best and Lennon come to help her understand unsolved mysteries of her life.

Daniel Leath portrays the former footballer, while John Altman plays Lennon.
