Pussycat Doll leaves Operastar

Melody Thornton became the third star contestant to be voted off ITV1's Popstar To Operastar.

The former Pussycat Doll was chosen to leave by the judges after Toploader's Joseph Washbourn survived the sing-off for the second week in a row, when he and Melody received the fewest votes from viewers, leaving them in the bottom two.

Rolando Villazon and Simon Callow voted to save Joseph, but Vanessa Mae voted to save Melody. As Katherine Jenkins was this week's head judge, she had the casting vote and chose to save Joseph.

Melody said after being voted off the show: "Honestly, I tried to relax as much as possible and I just want people to be inspired and do something that they wouldn't normally do."

Cheryl Baker of Bucks Fizz, X Factor winner Joe McElderry, Claire Richards from Steps and Erasure's Andy Bell remain in the competition, hosted by Myleene Klass, which sees pop stars training to sing opera.
