Ramsay flees amid campsite gunfire
Tough-talking celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay wimped out of a camping trip with David Beckham when they were woken by the sound of gunfire.
The pair, who had taken their children on the trip in California, fled a campsite in the middle of the night for the safety of a nearby hotel.
Gordon told Chris Moyles on his BBC Radio 1 show that he planned the trip while visiting his "great mate" Becks, who currently plays for LA Galaxy.
He said: "We went and got the tents, David set them up.
"We were camping next to this lake, turned up there was no-one on the campsite.
"Woke up about 4.30 in the morning to gunfire and there was this tent about half a mile away... with these Mexicans shooting."
The chef said he told his children there was a storm coming and they packed up their tent and checked into a hotel.
Gordon, famous for his expletive-laden outbursts in shows like The F Word and Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, also revealed that he let the soccer star take charge of the cooking.
He told Moyles: "He can actually cook. It was a one-pot wonder, we did scrambled eggs and fried eggs."
