Red carpet prankster Vitalli Sediuk: I wanted to hug Brad Pitt
The man who was arrested after jostling with Brad Pitt on a red carpet in the US has said he was trying to give the actor a hug and did not mean him any harm.
Vitalli Sediuk said he accepted responsibility for last week's incident and will spend the next few months dealing with the legal ramifications of his prank.
It briefly disrupted a red carpet event for the Disney film Maleficent in Los Angeles.
The 25-year-old pleaded no contest to battery against Pitt on Friday and was sentenced to three years of probation and a year's worth of psychiatric counseling. Sediuk said he did not attempt any similar stunts on the red carpet at Wednesday's Maleficent premiere because he knew that there would be children present.
The former Ukranian TV reporter said he was in a fan area of the event that was open to the public when he went in to give the actor a hug. He has gained a reputation for pranks on red carpets in Moscow, Los Angeles and elsewhere. Last month, at the Cannes Film Festival, he crawled underneath America Ferrera's dress at a premiere.
