Alex Reid has been forced to withdraw from running the London Marathon after suffering a triple injury.

A statement on the cage fighter's website revealed he had pulled out of the event after falling down a flight of stairs and spraining his ankle.

The 36-year-old then pulled his hamstring during a rehearsal for his new theatre show, before breaking a tooth after he "banged his face on his car door", his website said.

The statement read: "With much regret Alex Reid is withdrawing from The Virgin London Marathon.

"Alex has fallen down a flight of stairs where he is rehearsing for his new theatre tour Wildboys and twisted his ankle.

"He then sprained his hamstring whilst rehearsing a routine for his play. His producer accompanied him to his Harley Street physician for an emergency MRI Scan and treatment this afternoon.

"Following this he broke a tooth when he banged his face on his car door so remained in Harley Street for a further two hours having cosmetic dentistry."

On his website, Alex said: "I'm absolutely gutted I am being forced to pull out as it's a dream I was looking forward to achieving."
