Simon Cowell has returned to the Britain's Got Talent show - and was teased by hosts Ant and Dec over the Cheryl Cole X Factor controversy.
The talent show guru went on stage just hours after it was confirmed that the Geordie singer would not be a judge on this year's UK X Factor after being sacked from the US version too.
Dec cheekily referred to the row, asking Simon whether he could understand his Geordie accent.
Simon pretended not to realise that Dec was referring to the rumours that Cheryl was dropped because American audiences could not understand her accent, saying: "Am I missing something here? I've just got back, what's been going on?"
The first two acts to make it through to Saturday's final were chosen at the end of the show.
Ronan Parke, 12, won the public vote, then Paul Gbegbaje and Joe Oakley, the others in the top three in the public vote, each won the votes of two of the four judges.
It was then revealed that Paul had more public votes than Joe, so he joins Ronan in the final.
Simon said of singer Ronan, who wept tears of joy at going through: "I loved him."
And fellow judge David Hasselhoff said: "He's my number one choice to win this competition. To have that presence at the age of 12 is absolute talent."
Ronan is now the odds-on favourite to win the show with Coral offering odds of 1-2.
