Revolution Radio becomes third UK chart-topper for Green Day

American rock band Green Day proved they have still got it as their latest album reached number one in the UK.

Revolution Radio, which was released a week ago, is the third of the group's 12 studio albums to reach the top spot, following American Idiot in 2004 and 21st Century Breakdown in 2009.

They told the Official Albums Chart company: "The UK has always been a huge part of our story and to have a chart-topping album at this stage of our career is especially gratifying."

In second place this week is Barry Gibb with his second studio collection In The Now, followed by American rockers Alter Bridge with their highest charting album, The Last Hero.

Rounding up the top five albums are Kaiser Chiefs' Stay Together and, at number five, Following My Intuition by Craig David.
