Richie vying for Strictly job?

Shane Richie has hinted he would like to step into Sir Bruce Forsyth's shoes on Strictly Come Dancing.

The EastEnders star and TV presenter collected the best soap actor gong at the TVChoice Awards, and took the opportunity to put himself forward to host the show if 85-year-old Brucie ever steps down.

Shane was joining in the banter after Ant and Dec teased he is the dream contestant to appear in gruelling reality show I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! on rival channel ITV.

As the Geordie duo accepted the gong for best reality show they quipped: "There are still a few slots for this year so we'll be taking names this evening." Then Ant pointed at Shane and said, "Every year, top of the list!"

As Shane accepted his award he retorted: "And Ant and Dec, I'm not doing jungle, but Bruce when you're ready to retire..."

Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden joined hosts Ant and Dec to accept the best talent show award.

Amanda joked: "Simon [Cowell] can't be here tonight. He's at Mothercare!"

Earlier on the red carpet she revealed she has told father-to-be Simon that he should expect his child to be as "unruly" as him.

Amanda, 42, said she had been quick to congratulate her boss after hearing he was expecting a baby with lover Lauren Silverman.

Asked what sort of father Simon would make, she said: "I think he is going to be brilliant and I don't think he is going to be a disciplinarian.

"I think he will have an unruly, naughty boy - just like himself."
