Roma Downey $1m gift for New York Irish centre
Actress and TV producer Roma Downey has pledged $1million to the Irish Arts Centre being built in New York.
Downey, who is originally from Londonderry's Bogside, is reported to be worth £195m.
Along with husband Mark Burnett, the former Touched By An Angel star has produced hit US shows such as The Apprentice, The Voice and The Bible.
Other actors, including Ballymena star Liam Neeson and Gabriel Byrne, are also supporting the £38m redevelopment of the centre, which includes a 199-seat theatre, on Manhattan's' West Side.
The massive donation was announced on Saturday by the American Ireland Fund.
