Rory's ex reflects on tumultuous year
Tennis player Caroline Wozniacki has officially put a bittersweet 2014 behind her.
The Danish athlete (24) posted a cryptic message on Instagram on New Year's Eve - exactly one year after ex Rory McIlroy proposed to her.
The couple called off their engagement in May of last year, just days after they sent out their wedding invitations.
The World No.1 from Holywood, Co Down, had proposed to the blonde beauty during a romantic fireworks display in Sydney, Australia.
But their engagement was short-lived and the pair eventually parted ways, with Caroline later saying the relationship ended in a three-minute phone call.
"Isn't it crazy how we can look back a year ago and realize how everything has changed?" she posted on Instagram. "The amount of people that have left your life, entered and stayed. The memories you won't forget and the moments you wish you did. It's crazy how all that happened in just one year."
Since splitting, Rory has been linked to several Irish models, including Sasha Gale and Nadia Forde. Meanwhile, Caroline recently enjoyed a date with NFL player Ryan Kerrigan at a charity event.
But it's her friendship with Serena Williams which is her most positive memory of 2014. The US tennis player tweeted to her pal: "We got much closer this year. We learned, we cried & we laughed. U are the best thing that happened to me this year."
Over Christmas, Rory looked a little sheepish as he was being interviewed during a rugby match between Ulster and Connacht as the PA system belted out Neil Diamond's hit Sweet Caroline - a favourite at the stadium.
