Ana Matronic of the Scissor Sisters is to announce the winner of the MAC contemporary art prize in Belfast

Scissor Sisters frontwoman Ana Matronic will be in Belfast at the end of the month to announce the winner of the Mac's inaugural £20,000 art prize.

The US singer will be the special guest for the 2014 Mac International award presentation on October 30, recognising the best artistic talent in the world.

The prize, sponsored by Ulster Bank and funded by NITB and the Arts Council, is one of just a handful of UK major art awards.

"This is a truly international prize – it will be a real honour for me to announce the winner and I can't wait to get to Belfast to see the exhibition myself," said the flamboyant singer, who will DJ at the exclusive after-party.

The works will then feature in the free Mac International exhibition until January 18.
