Shaun Ryder steps up quit threats

Shaun Ryder has stepped up his threats to leave I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! - because he is worn out by socialising with so many other contestants.

The Happy Mondays frontman - known for tracks such as 24 Hour Party People - is on the verge of leaving following the arrival of the latest newcomer Alison Hammond.

Shaun, who has struggled to stay awake as a result of a thyroid problem, said he finds it difficult to cope with bubbly people.

As soon as Alison arrived in camp, the singer scuttled off to the show's "bush telegraph" to moan: "Oh, more f***ing people in the camp. And a loud person and a cheery person as well. She's probably a really nice person, don't get me wrong. I like Alison. I like horse s*** in the country but I don't want it in my living room."

He continued: "I just don't want to go through it. I've done f*** all for eight days except socialise. I'm about that far from f***ing off."

Earlier this week Shaun grumbled that he was thinking of departing the I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here! camp after a week. He joked that he would be suicidal if he stuck it out for a fortnight.

Explaining his reaction to Alison's arrival to new pal Jenny Eclair in the camp, Shaun said: "It's big, loud people, over-friendly people I can't stick.

"I'm sure she is a lovely person but it should have been a bloke who came in."
