Singer Aston Merrygold to be a first-time father

Aston Merrygold is following in the footsteps of former JLS bandmates Marvin Humes, Oritse Williams and JB Gill by becoming a father.

Singer Aston Merrygold is to become a first-time father, after announcing that girlfriend Sarah Richards is pregnant.

The former JLS star announced the happy news on his Twitter page on Sunday (03Sep17), sharing a series of snaps alongside Sarah in which the pair were seen sitting at a table next to a third seat which featured a "Reserved" sign and a picture of the baby scan. Pink and blue balloons were attached to the seat, with a blackboard in the background displaying the rhyme: "Could be pink... could be blue... all we know is that we're due... JAN 2018".

Writing alongside the picture on Twitter, Aston told fans: "This secret has been so hard to keep, but I'm so excited to share the news that me and @sarahrichards are going to be parents!!!"

Sharing the same post to Instagram, Aston wrote a lengthier caption: "On May 29th 2017 we found out that our lives were going to change forever! This secret has been so hard to keep, but I'm so excited to finally be able to share the news with everybody that me and my beautiful lady are going to be parents!!!!!!

"I'm NEVER speechless but words can't describe how I feel... All I know is there's no feeling like it!... Sar I promise to be the best daddy ever to our baby boy/girl. You are an amazing woman and going to be the greatest mum to our child! Thank you for continuously making me the happiest man ever! I love you, hurry up bump we can't wait to meet you."

Aston is the last member of JLS to become a father, following in the footsteps of bandmates Marvin Humes, Oritse Williams and JB Gill, who are already parents.
