Snow Patrol's Gary Lightbody to join Lyra McKee 'walk for peace'
Snow Patrol front man Gary Lightbody will join a "walk for peace" from Belfast to Londonderry in memory of murdered journalist Lyra McKee.
The walk has been planned by a small group of people who say they have been affected by the journalist's murder.
It will take place from May 25 to May 27, beginning in Belfast's Writer's Square and finishing up 68 miles later in Derry.
Lightbody will join the walk in the final leg at Dungiven and is expected to speak at the finale event at Ebrington Square.
The event will also feature key note speakers and performances from other local artists including Hex Hue, Lyra's Choir and Abby Oliveira.
Organisers said the walk had been given approval by Lyra's family and partner Sara Canning.
They said that the walk "will not become a platform for politicians or political groups".
Lyra McKee (29) was killed as she observed rioting in Derry's Creggan estate last month. The so-called new IRA claimed responsibility offering it's "full and sincere apologies" to family and friends of the reporter.
Tickets for the Lyra's Walk finale event are free but attendees are encouraged to make a donation to help cover production costs.
