Solomon: Tulisa's her own woman

Former X Factor contestant Stacey Solomon says she doesn't see similarities between Cheryl Cole and new judge Tulisa Contostavlos.

The singer, who came third in the sixth series of the show, also admitted she'd be a softie if she landed a place on the panel herself.

"I don't think there's any resemblance between Tulisa and Cheryl at all. There'll always be that pressure because it's a massive spot to fill, but Tulisa looks great, she's doing perfectly," Stacey said.

The mum-of-one said she also rated new judges Kelly Rowland and Gary Barlow.

"I think Kelly has surprised everyone a little with her opinions actually. You really want to hear what she's got to say, and I never thought I would but I love her comments, I think they're really accurate, spot on.

"And Gary is just beautiful, I just sit and stare at him for a good hour!"

Stacey - who will be taking to the stage at West End show Wicked next month as part of Pop Goes The Musical for Children In Need - has just landed a new record deal with independent label Conehead, and is looking forward to working on some new material.

"Finally I get to work on something on my own and I can't wait," she said.

"They're independent, it just means I've got the flexibility to do whatever I want and write my own things which I can't wait to do."
