Stars attend comic book convention

Celebrity comic book fans Jonathan Ross, Frankie Boyle and Stewart Lee thrilled guests at Kapow! Comic's inaugural convention.

Set to become one of the largest comic book festivals in the country, Kapow!, treated its 5,000 guests to a schedule of exclusive film and television previews, merchandising stalls and panels featuring comic book writers and artists.

Stars including cast members from Channel 4's Misfits and comedians Lee, Boyle and Ross - all published comic book writers - were all on hand for book signings at Islington's Business Design Centre.

Ross, whose wife, Jane Goldman, won plaudits for scripting the film Kick-Ass, last year's action movie based on the comic of the same name, hosted a quiz pitting comic book creators against fans.

Ross produces his own popular five-issue comic book mini-series Turf.

Creator of BBC TV's Merlin Johnny Capps, along with all the show's star actors, Colin Morgan (Merlin), Bradley James (Arthur), Angel Coulby (Gwen) and Katie McGrath (Morgana) were also in attendance, answering questions during an hour-long Q&A.
