Stars turn out for Christopher Bailey’s last Burberry show at London Fashion Week
He was hugged by Kate Moss following the show.
Idris Elba and Kate Moss were among the celebrities at Burberry’s London Fashion Week show as outgoing president Christopher Bailey presented his final collection for the fashion house.
Bailey was seen being hugged by Moss and Vogue editor Edward Enninful at the Burberry Autumn/Winter 2018 show at the Dimco Buildings in west London on Saturday.
His departure at the end of next month marks an end to a 17-year stint at the high-end fashion house.
The show championed LGBTQ+ communities with Burberry favourite Cara Delevingne closing the show sporting a faux fur rainbow cape over a white outfit.
Mr Bailey led the firm as chief executive from 2014, but was succeeded by Marco Gobbetti in July, allowing him to take up the role of president and chief creative officer.
While he will step down from the board on March 31, Burberry said he would be staying on to help with the transition until December next year.
He joined the historic fashion house as design director, but was soon promoted to chief creative officer in 2009 and added president to his role between 2014 and July 2017.
He has often been credited with giving the brand a fresh image and making it feel modern.
Last year Mr Bailey said of his departure: “It has been the great privilege of my working life to be at Burberry, working alongside and learning from such an extraordinary group of people over the last 17 years.”
