Matthew Wright has revealed his best ever interview led to sitting next to Elizabeth Taylor at the Baftas.
The Wright Stuff presenter met the screen legend when she was invited to be Bafta's guest of honour.
He said: "At a launch party, I asked some stupid question about the grand national that was taking place the next day. As she'd been in National Velvet, I asked her if she had any tips. She called me a knucklehead and that was that.
"Only it wasn't. A little later one of her assistants came over and said, 'Elizabeth loooooves you - would you join her at the Baftas?' And so I got to sit with arguably the greatest big screen actress of all time - and what a charming, warm-hearted and wonderful woman she was."
Matthew also made a barbed joke about fellow daytime TV host Jeremy Kyle.
He said: "Gawd, no, I love Jeremy Kyle. I gave him his first TV break. Knowing how his show revels in the misfortunes of others gives me a reason to get up at 4.30am every day."
:: The Wright Stuff airs weekdays on Channel 5 at 9.15am.
