TV cook has 'love-hate' kitchen

TV cook Rachel Khoo says she has her tiny kitchen to thank for landing her a BBC show.

The 31-year-old stands out from other TV chefs because her kitchen is only about one metre square with no work surface and a fridge in the next room.

In her first cookery show, The Little Paris Kitchen on BBC Two, the Croydon-born cook demystifies French food from her tiny Parisian studio apartment.

"I think my kitchen sold it. It's small, not glamorous, very basic - but it's got that old charm of Paris," she said..

"I have a love-hate relationship with it. Some days I love it, and others it's really frustrating.

"I don't have a proper work surface, everything's falling apart. My oven is like a toaster thingy and utensils are dotted all over the apartment!

"It's very much a combination of old and new, which is how I approach my cooking."

:: The Little Paris Kitchen begins on BBC Two on Monday, March 19.
