Tyrone country and western singer Cliona Hagan was celebrating last night after she made it into the final of Dancing With The Stars, RTE's popular celebrity dance contest show.

The Cookstown woman - who is partnered on the show by Robert Rowinski - waltzed into the final after a dazzling cha-cha-cha that gained the duo a sensational 28 points.

Earlier, she and her dance partner Robert had scored a superb 22 points for their elegant Viennese waltz. After a mishap with her scarf in the dance, she said: "I felt like I was on ice."

Fans of the popular country singer took to social media to share their excitement.

Cara ni Chronlaigh tweeted: "I am honestly so obsessed with @Cliona Hagan on #dwtsirl definitely the best dancer ever."

"Cliona you were brilliant tonight. Congratulations! I will be voting for you in the final" said fan Christopher Slavin, while Catherine Devaney posted: "Congrats @ClionaHagan on getting through to DWTSIrl final next week.

"Keep It Country."

Cliona and Robert will face TV presenter Mairead Ronan and dance partner John Nolan in the final show.

Whichever of the dancers takes the crown next week, they will become the first female winners of Ireland's Dancing With The Stars.

Speaking before last night's show, Cliona told the Irish Sun on Sunday: "We have to show young girls that they're as good as the guys. A woman has never won Dancing With The Stars and I'd like to be the first one to do it."
