Actress Susan Lynch has spoken of her pride at receiving a doctorate

Northern Ireland actress Susan Lynch, who has shared the screen with the likes of Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and Ewan McGregor, has said her proudest moment was receiving a doctorate from the University of Ulster five years ago.

The 45-year-old, who hails from Corrinshego outside Newry, attended the establishment, now called the Ulster University, in 2011, where she was awarded a doctorate of arts.

Speaking about the event to the Sunday Express, she said: "I had just had my baby, I was 40, so I was really moved by it. I was very proud. The things that will always stick - it's not the glory and the red carpets - it's the creative stuff."

Susan, who was pictured looking fabulous alongside her interview in the magazine, has a list of television and film credits to her name, not least her award-winning part as author James Joyce's wife in the film Nora.
