Van Morrison’s gig invitation consolation for Johanna Konta amid Wimbledon exit
The Brown Eyed Girl singer said he would be watching the British number one’s clash with Venus Williams.
Van Morrison sought to ease the pain of Johanna Konta’s Wimbledon defeat by inviting her to one of his concerts.
The Brown Eyed Girl singer told the British tennis star she had been “great” after she lost out to five-time champion Venus Williams.
He tweeted the player: “Jo, you did great. We’re so proud of you and I’d like you to come as my guest to one of my gigs. Van.”

She replied: “Thank you so much! I would love you to!”
Van Morrison was one of a string of celebrities who wished Konta luck ahead of her semi-final clash.
He had earlier tweeted: “I’ll be watching #Wimbledon Good Luck!”
Last week, Konta revealed her plans to see U2 following the tournament.
The admission prompted the band to also send her a message of good luck on Twitter.
