Watch: Rod Stewart shares pride over son's Belfast ice hockey goal

Sir Rod Stewart was every bit the proud dad when he shared a video of himself cheering on his son Liam, who made his debut for the senior British ice hockey team, at the SSE Arena in Belfast on Tuesday.

Liam scored the first goal of the team's 5-1 victory over Estonia during the second round of the world championships, and it seems Rod was eager to show off his son's achievement.

The singer posted a video on Instagram which showed him watching a report on the match introduced by the BBC's Tim Hague.

Rod excitedly shouted 'my boy' when Liam appeared on screen celebrating his goal. The clip can be viewed below.

Meanwhile Liam's mother, former supermodel Rachel Hunter, was in Belfast on Tuesday to support her son from the SSE Arena stands.
