Watch: Rose Week kicks off at Lady Dixon Park in Belfast

A week-long celebration of the stunning rose garden at Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park has kicked off in Belfast.

As well as a number of floral competitions, the festivities will include face painting, bouncy castles, mega slide, balloon modelling, and Punch & Judy shows.

One of the highlights of this year's programme includes a Jurassic Dinosaur Walkabout which will take place from Friday through to Sunday.

Alderman Tommy Sandford, Chair of Belfast City Council’s People and Communities Committee, said: “Thousands of people come to Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon each year especially to enjoy the beauty and scent of the roses.

“They also look forward to the wide range of entertainment on offer - so the visit’s fun for all ages. Families come together and make a day of it with a free shuttle bus service from the grounds of City Hall to Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park throughout the week.”

“Come along and enjoy the event with us – you can be as active or as relaxed as you wish,” added the Alderman.
