Wood gets set for radio awards

Ronnie Wood is so worried he might miss the Sony Radio Academy Awards he's set plenty of reminders.

The Rolling Stones guitarist received two nominations for his Absolute Classic Rock show, including best Radio Music Personality and the coveted Rising Star Award, and insisted he will not skip the ceremony at Grosvenor House hotel on May 9.

"I shall be there on the night - it's in my book, it's on my iPad and my laptop and my iPhone. I've set all of my alarms to remind me," he revealed to Christian O'Connell on Absolute Radio.

Ronnie admitted he hasn't told his Stones bandmates about his nods.

"No, I haven't. I'm hoping they might find out," he continued.

"If they don't like it, they better eat their hearts out. If they do, then they can join the party."

He added: "I'm quietly chuffed about this. It's great, isn't it? Radio Music Personality and Rising Star at 63 - not too bad."
