Worthington: I'm taking a break

Sam Worthington has revealed he is taking some time off to enjoy himself.

The 35-year-old star has made almost 10 films in four years and admitted to Men's Health magazine he has been working non-stop.

Sam said: "I haven't taken a break in four years. It's been a nomadic existence.

"Now it's time to enjoy the fruits of my labour for a little bit - but I don't think I'll be gone for long."

The Avatar and Clash Of The Titans star revealed he has spent his 20s struggling to find consistent work and "p***ing money up against the wall" when he had it.

Sam said his overnight success story of being launched into the spotlight after James Cameron cast him in Avatar misses out, "A s***load of hard work", and added, "It wasn't as if I woke up one day and was doing movies."

The Australian actor revealed he got the call offering him the part in Avatar while he was trekking through the mountains between Melbourne and Sydney, trying to "figure out who I was by myself".

And Sam said after being cast in Avatar he would often spend up to 18 hours a day, six days a week on set, but he had learned not to push himself too far.

He added: "It didn't matter if I'd been drinking all night; I'd still be there at 6 a.m. But that doesn't work now, and it certainly didn't work on Avatar."
