Zoe Ball thanks late beau Billy Yates for a year of sobriety
Zoe Ball hasn't had any alcohol in 12 months.
Zoe Ball has thanked her late boyfriend Billy Yates for helping her complete a year of sobriety.
The TV and radio personality took to social media on Monday morning (26Jun17) to celebrate 12 months of no alcohol, uploading what appeared to be a screen shot from an app on her phone with the words, ‘Congratulations on making it 1 year sober!’ along with the option to ‘Share Milestone’. Zoe, 46, gave up booze last summer (16) following a relapse, having first gone teetoal in 2009.
In a comment to accompany the picture, Zoe wrote, “Love & thanks to my gorgeous family & brilliant friends & some very special ones who have helped me this year @billwahweewoo,” tagging her late beau Billy.
The cameraman, who worked on Antiques Roadshow, was found dead at his London flat at the beginning of May (17). It is believed he'd hung himself after suffering from depression and financial woes.
He and Zoe had only gone public with their romance a few months earlier, following the blonde star’s split from ex-husband Norman Cook, aka Fatboy Slim.
The DJ headlined Glastonbury Festival’s Silver Hayes area over the weekend (23-25Jun17) and Zoe attended the annual music event carrying Billy’s ticket with her.
Posting a picture of his official pass on Instagram, she captioned the sweet shot, “Taking you with me in my pocket @billwahweewoo #healingfields#glastonbury @glastofest #24hourglasto.”
Zoe’s brother Nick was also in attendance and the BBC Radio 2 presenter posted a collage snap of all the highlights of her weekend on Sunday (25Jun17), including Labour party leader Jeremy Corbyn taking to the stage, Foo Fighters headlining the Pyramid Stage and Royal Blood performing.
