Zooey Deschanel turns designer

Zooey Deschanel is adding fashion designer to her list of skills.

The New Girl actress has teamed up with American designer Tommy Hilfiger to create a capsule collection of pieces, reported Women's Wear Daily.

The fashionista's range - made up of dresses named after her friends - is titled To Tommy, From Zooey.

Zooey, 34, said: "I am a fashion fanatic, and I am always looking for new ways to incorporate vintage, feminine pieces into my own wardrobe.

"Tommy and I share many of the same inspirations - old-school music, classic films and old Hollywood icons - and his guidance during the design process helped to put a really unique twist on each piece."

Tommy revealed the frocks are 60s-inspired short dresses that he described as "very Jean Shrimpton and Twiggy".

Zooey's line goes on sale later this year.
